The Indianapolis Community Tennis Program continues to make the safety and well-being of our players and staff our highest priority. We have been closely following the COVID-19 situation and the associated current federal and state guidelines, including the closure of all Indiana school campuses through June 30, 2020.

As a result, our Board of Directors has made the decision to not find alternative sites for our on-court program.  The plan is to reopen our on-court program no earlier than when our facilities at Washington Township Schools reopen, which is currently set for no earlier than July 1, 2020. This decision was not made lightly. For the first time in over 55 years, our courts will not be filled with players of all ages in the month of June. Instead, we will be offering new interactive digital programming for our players to utilize, including weekly lesson and fitness plans and other digital event opportunities. (We have some exciting things planned – look for announcements soon!)

Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as well as USTA best practices for the reopening of our facility and program in the month of July will continue to be monitored closely, with any necessary modifications made for player and staff safety.

Below you will find some frequently asked questions related to this delay in start. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any additional questions you may have (317-259-5377 or [email protected]). We look forward to seeing you all again July first!

Thank you and be well,

Your Indianapolis Community Tennis Program Family

Frequently Asked Questions: COVID-19

What if I’ve already registered for a June class?

If you have already registered for a June class you have the following three options:

  • You may move your registration to a July session.
  • You may request a full refund for all fees paid.
  • You may choose to generously donate fees, or a portion of the fees, to the Indianapolis Community Tennis Program. We, like many other non-profit organizations, are starting to experience hardships due to the ongoing situation and closure. As always with our organization, every dollar received allows us to not only simply continue operations and cover our fixed expenses, but to also continue offering the best and most reasonable program possible. All donations will receive a tax donation receipt.

Will programming and summer-long classes be changing?

As stated, we will continue to follow and monitor the current guidelines and restrictions and will implement them with all of our groups accordingly. It is our hope that our players still experience all that makes our program special. With that said, please note that programming is subject to change pending these guidelines.

All summer-long programming (HP and Junior Summer Wonders), including pricing, is currently being evaluated.

What steps will be taken to keep players safe?

We are evaluating and considering the implementation of the following procedures, according to most current social distancing guidelines and USTA best practices including, but not limited to:

  • Limiting number of players/court
  • Deep cleaning and sanitation of facilities and equipment
  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility
  • Limited and/or restricted use of the indoor facilities
  • Limit ball usage to each group; Avoid players touching balls; Utilize ball tubes, hoppers for pick up.
  • All policies will continually be reviewed with the most up-to-date information and guidelines, and will be modified accordingly.

Summer Programming Update

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another summer together. Although things will look a little different this summer, we can’t wait to be on the court again.

As we continue to navigate and respond to COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our players and staff is our highest priority. We are working to finalize our summer plans, in conjunction with the staged reopening plan Governor Holcomb released today, including social distancing measures. Our program staff and board are working diligently with this most recent information.

If you are currently registered for a summer class, please look for additional information pertaining to your class soon.

Wishing you and your families the very best as we continue to navigate this together.

Our Treasured Friend Paul Loggan

I am glad I started my day with several streamed Easter Church services. They provided me with Christian Joy and I needed all of that and more to accept the LOSS of Paul Loggan, who was truly one of the most outstanding friends I have ever, ever treasured knowing. Knowing Paul was for many, knowing his wonderful family. To his wife Kathy, sons Michael and Will, precious daughter….Sami….I send you Agape Love and deepest Sympathy.

Paul Loggan

One of our closest partners and friends, North Central Athletic Director Paul Loggan, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12th in the early afternoon from complications of the COVID-19 virus at the age of 57.  Mr. Loggan, or Paul, as many referred to him as, was an adamant supporter of tennis on the north side of Indianapolis, Barbara Wynne, the North Central Tennis Teams, and the Indianapolis Community Tennis Program.

Paul served various roles at North Central High School over the past 31 years, with his last position being the Athletic Director since the 2014-2015 school year.  During his tenure at North Central Paul supported many updates and renovations to the tennis facilities.  He was a strong advocate and promoter of all student athletes, including tennis players that went on to play at all collegiate levels and on the men’s and women’s professional tennis tours.  Paul continued the tradition of hosting the IHSAA State Tennis Tournament at North Central, where he worked very closely with North Central Head Tennis Coach Dan Brunette and IHSAA Commissioner for Tennis Chris Kauffman to make it an exciting and safe environment for athletes to compete, fans to cheer, and teams to relish the opportunity of playing in the Indiana State Finals at North Central.

With a football, track, and wrestling background, Paul grew to love the game of tennis in his time as Athletic Director.  Rarely did he miss an IHSAA tournament match or even a regular season match.  In particular he enjoyed watching his daughter, Samantha “Sami” Loggan, compete for the Panthers.  On any typical weekday night at the North Central tennis courts, the entire Loggan family, with wife Kathy and sons Michael and Will, could be seen cheering on Sami from the North Central Golf Cart.  Whether it was watching close matches, running tennis invitationals, or cheering on his own daughter, Paul became a champion and supporter of tennis, including his efforts and optimistic attitude for expanding the facilities to include and indoor facility.

Paul was truly one of a kind. We will gratefully remember his service. He was a force for good, doing everything with intention and the betterment of our community.

Kathy, Michael, Will, and Sami, we are keeping you in our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers.

May Paul’s memory be eternal.
