TOMORROW, MAY 24, 2021 —
Our Tennis Program at North Central High School starts its 58th Season of offering every level of Tennis Instruction and Challenging Tennis Programs to everyone who want to play and HAVE FUN.
Any surprises??? Yes- a few! Biggest surprise numbers…ADULTS! More than 40 have signed up for Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 pm. I do believe that Covid and the Shut Down has made everyone want to be outdoors and to meet other adults who are eager to become active again. I will be on hand to take a picture of the eager-to-improve adult group who will have use of at least two decks and lots of fun instructors to make your choice of our Tennis Program a great one. My Grandson, JT Wynne, a second year Law Student at Robert McKinney Indiana University School of Law, and 3x Tennis All-American, will be one of your enthusiastic teachers.
Our classes start at age 3 and for certain we have a few super-seniors. We provide all the balls you will need to practice and play. If you ever forget your Tennis Racquet, we have some loaners—even great wooden racquets but you will no doubt prefer a more modern racquet. If you think you wish to purchase a new Racquet, The Indianapolis Racquet Club at 8249 Dean Road will allow you to sign out a Loaner Racquet to try to help you determine your purchase. Their Pro Staff is excellent at helping with grip sizing and custom stringing and grip modifications but most new players find a good racquet right on the wall. “Pam” has restrung racquets for years and will be totally honest about the condition of your racquet and grip. Please remember to call me personally if I can help you!
Yes…..Riley Round Robins start this week!!!! The Thursday Orange Ball Round Robin is FULL and I am so excited to be working with the Central Indiana Tennis Association for registration. All Orange Ball Tournaments have results recorded and A trophy for the winner and a Sportsmanship trophy presented if an outstanding level of competitive play is observed. Our Round Robins are developmental and between the hours of 3-5 pm, we hope to encourage the best level of competitive play possible and a positive action and positive reactions to situations that lead to Championship Levels of Play. Our Riley Round Robins are OPEN to any player in any program and 100% of the entry fee goes to The Riley Children’s Foundation.
An anonymous Donor made it possible for our Kids Helping Kids Charity to both Benefit Riley and encourage Juniors to participate in our Riley Round Robins. There are over 30 different round robins this summer. All are from 3-5 pm and Trophies presented at 5 pm based on the number of games won over the two hour competition. We hope to have a minimum of three different matches. Here is the schedule. Competition starts at 3 pm sharp so be present at 2:50 pm….PLEASE.
